Speed and Strength
pad
Developing your strength will make you stronger but it won't maximize your speed. In fact, developing the strength fibers in your muscles too much can actually slow the clubhead down. Conditioning the muscles for speed is performed differently from conditioning the muscles for strength. Speed is determined by the amount of time it takes to contract your muscles to a specific distance. The shorter the amount of time, the faster the body part will move. The speed at which your muscles contract is controlled by a different set of fibers than the strength fibers. These fibers are known as the fast twitch fibers and developing their response time is the key to gaining clubhead speed and more distance. The programs in this area are all designed to improve upon the speed at which you can get body parts moving as well as the strength to keep them under control.
