Better Muscle Endurance Will Give You a Better Back Nine
Most golfers recognize that the golf swing requires an explosive release upon contact with the ball. While this action alone only takes seconds to occur, it is repeated swing after swing and hole after hole. In competitive situations, golfers may find themselves playing for 3 to 4 days in a row repeating the process with very few breaks in between. This is where having strength endurance can be helpful. In order to train for strength endurance, exercise programs are structured to accomplish between 12 to 25 reps per set. The idea is to use much lighter weights and to keep intensity fairly low so you can continue increasing the number of reps over a period of time. It is also important to keep your rest periods slightly longer, greater than 60 seconds following an exercise, so golfers can maximize recovery efforts.
The Strength Endurance Golf Fitness Program uses a standard format of sets and repetitions. That is, you will move from one exercise to the next while performing the requested number of sets and repetitions. Always keep an eye on your posture. Remember that quality always takes precedence over quantity with exercise routines. So, if you are asked to perform 15 repetitions of an exercise and you can only perform 7 or 8 before you lose posture, then only perform the 7 or 8 and work up to 15. The goal is to perform each exercise with excellent posture and this will help re-enforce the design and effectiveness of this program for you.
